The man known for founding the Cool Moose Party has passed away.

Robert "Bob" Healey,58, was found unresponsive by a friend in his bed at home on Sunday evening. Healey’s death does not appear to be suspicious.

Healey was a perennial candidate for statewide office and ran for governor and Lt. Governor several times.

Healey most recently ran for Governor of Rhode island in 2014, losing now Governor Gina Raimondo.

The longtime Barrington resident was known for his eclectic personality and frugal campaign strategies.

ABC6 will have more on his passing tonight on ABC6 News at 5.
