On Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at approximately 1:00 AM, Dartmouth Police Officer Scott T. Brooks was on patrol, when he encountered a female asking for help in the area of Grant Street.

The woman, identified as an 18 year old Dartmouth resident told Officer Brooks that she and two of her friends had just been robbed at gunpoint by five black males. The Dartmouth woman stated that the males fled the area in a compact four door blue sedan.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the three victims identified as two women from Dartmouth and one male from New Bedford had stopped at the 7-11 located on Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford. The victims noticed a blue sedan appear to follow their vehicle as they left 7-11.

The blue sedan continued to follow the victims as they traveled to Grant Street. The victims reported that when they stopped, four or five black males ran towards them and demanded all of their personal belongings. One of the perpetrators slashed both front tires and one of the back tires on the victim's vehicle. The victims reported that two of the males were armed with hand guns and one had a large knife.

After robbing the victims, it was reported by the victims that they heard a gun shot fired from the location of the suspects. The suspects then fled the area in the blue sedan.

This information was broadcasted to area police departments. A brief time later a New Bedford police officer spotted the suspected vehicle in the area of King's Highway. The suspected vehicle was stopped which resulted in the arrest of four males.
