Councilman Hassett Makes First Public Appearance Since Accident

Providence City Councilman Terrence Hassett was present at the City Council swearing-in ceremony this morning, the first time he's been seen in public since nearly being killed by a driver on Federal Hill.

Hassett, confined to a wheelchair, received a standing ovation from the assembled crowd and drew great praise from his friends and colleagues on the Council.

Although he's wheelchair-bound and still faces several more weeks of rehabilitation, Hassett says he looks forward to continuing to represent his Ward.

ABC6 Reporter Malini Basu was there and has that story, and ABC6 Reporter Erin Logan sat down with his brother, Joe Hassett, for an update on how the Councilman has been recovering.
