Court documents reveal timeline before pregnant woman’s body found in Carbuncle Pond
COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — New court documents obtained by ABC 6 News shows the alleged movements of two men accused of murdering a pregnant woman in Coventry back in December of 2022.
Leila Duarte Da Luz’s body was found by a fisherman on December 21, in Carbuncle Pond.
Da Luz’s ex-boyfriend and father of the baby she was carrying, 35-year-old Gary Gromkiewicz, and his accomplice, 46-year-ol Michael Lambert, are being held on murder and conspiracy charges.
The records obtained by ABC 6 show Da Luz’s landlord told police he last saw her leave her Brockton home with Gromkiewicz at about 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 21 with another man in the car.
Search warrants conduced by Rhode Island State Police on Lambert’s, Gromkiewicz’s and Da Luz’s cell phones show that at 3 a.m. on the same day, all of their phones traveled to Warwick before heading to the area of the Twin River Casino.
At 5 p.m., Gromkiewicz’s phone had no further location data but Lambert and Da Luz’s phones traveled to Coventry in the area of Carbuncle Pond.
An hour and half later, Da Luz’s phone had no further location data and shortly after, Lambert’s phone left the Carbuncle Pond area.
Both Gromkiewicz and Lambert are currently being held without bail.
