Coventry's Town Council President Gary Cote is in stable condition after a scare last night during a closed door meeting.

Cote was rushed to the Kent County Hospital last night with what appears to be a heart attack.

He was at a meeting about the future of the bankrupt Central Coventry fire department when he started feeling ill.

The council and fire chiefs were trying to formulate a plan to get emergency services to citizens after a judge ordered the district to liquidate its assests by May 16.

A local tax group complained about the private meeting saying the public was “refused the opportunity to comment” on plans.
