A two-alarm fire in Coventry early Friday morning is being investigated as an arson.

Central Coventry fire crews arrived at the building on Arnold street shortly after midnight Friday morning. Nobody was injured in the fire, but the building is a total loss.

Officials say the town of Coventry owns the building, and had plans to demolish it next month as part of a remediation project on the town's old landfill which is adjacent to the property.

On Friday morning, investigators from the state fire marshal's were on the scene, but officials declined to comment about the investigation.
