Coventry Police investigating fatal single-car crash

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) – A West Warwick woman has been charged in connection with a fatal crash Thursday night in Coventry.

Coventry Police responded to the area of 759 Washington Street just after 9:00 p.m. for a single car accident in which a sedan struck a telephone pole.

Investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway and struck the pole. Speed was determined to be a factor in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Brianna Sauro, 20, of West Warwick, and the passenger, identified as Kaitlyn Holroyd, 21, of Coventry, were both transported to the hospital with injuries.

Holbroyd was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

After being treated, Sauro was arraigned at Coventry Police headquarters on charges of Driving to Endanger, death resulting.

Police said forensic toxicology reports are still pending for both parties involved.
