Coventry woman charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on Douglas Pike

SMITHFIELD, RI (WLNE) – Police in Smithfield  say they charged a Coventry woman for a DUI Thursday night after she was involved in a head-on crash while driving the wrong way.

Authorities were called to Douglas Pike at the Route 295 overpass around 10:55 p.m. Thursday for a head-on car crash.

When officers arrived it was determined that the cause of the accident was a car traveling northbound on the southbound side of Douglas Pike.

Police say the investigation revealed that Courtney L. Quattrucci, 22, of Coventry, was the one driving the wrong way in a 2013 Dodge Dart.

Quattrucci struck the center dividing guardrail and then struck a 2013 Volkswagon Jetta head on, according to police.

Both Quattrucci and the other driver were transported to Fatima Hospital for evaluation.

Quattrucci was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol after the evaluation and was released from police custody with a summons to appear in Kent County District Court on Tuesday.
