Cranston approves draft calendar for election to replace Reilly
CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Board of Canvassers approved a draft calendar for a special election to replace former Councilman Matthew Reilly.
The tentative dates for the Ward 6 elections set a primary on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and a special election on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
The board said it submitted the dates to the state Board of Elections and is now awaiting their approval.
Reilly resigned last week from both the city council and as chairman of the city’s Republican Party after a drug arrest.
