Cranston Mayor Fung’s Car Broken Into
Cranston Police are warning everybody – yes, even mayors – to lock their car doors after Mayor Allan Fung's car was broken into over the weekend.
The Mayor tells ABC6 that his was one of two cars hit by a thief at a Mayfield Avenue apartment complex. The perp took a credit card, his bar association cards, a Dunkin Donuts gift card and some spare change, and has apparently already treated himself to a free coffee or two. Fung canceled the credit card as soon as he noticed the theft.
He says he thought he'd locked his car, but maybe he'd forgotten. Cranston police say it looks like a random crime and he probably had left it unlocked.
Fung also said that while he's disappointed that somebody would resort to theft, he can understand why somebody would be driven to stealing.
