A caregiver is facing assault charges in Cranston after the parents of a developmentally disabled boy say they caught her beating their son on surveillance video.
According to Cranston Police, the couple left their son with Kimberly Faneuf, 46, of Cumberland Monday night. While the couple was out to dinner, they accessed a home video monitor on their cell phone and saw Faneuf treating their son aggressively.
Police say the video shows Faneuf shaking and twisting the disabled boy's arm and head while slamming him into the floor.
Police say the boy suffered bruises on the forehead and left arm, injuries to his mouth and neck, as well as a blood spot on his left eye. The child was treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital and later released.
Faneuf has been charged with one felony count of assault on a person with severe impairments. She has been released on $10 thousand bail.
