CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Two people were arrested after an altercation at Zona Lounge early Tuesday morning.

According to the Cranston Police Department, Jaime Torres-Ortiz, 35, and Jenn Gonzalez, 33, both of Providence, were arrested after they pepper-sprayed and cut an unidentified victim with possibly a key or a knife.

Officers were initially dispatched to Zona Lounge on Niantic Ave around 1:15 a.m., for the report of a large disturbance.

Cranston Police said Zona Lounge employees reported seeing a man punch a woman in the face and flee, and blood was found in the parking lot where the altercation was described to take place.

Authorities from Providence soon made contact with Cranston Police, saying a female passenger of a vehicle they had stopped, reported she had just been shot at Zona Lounge.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and it was discovered she had not been shot, but cut with a sharp foreign object.

Throughout the investigation, police determined the assault between Torres-Ortiz, Gonzalez, and the victim was the result of an ongoing feud between the parties.

Authorities were granted arrest warrants for Torres-Ortiz and Gonzalez, who were taken into custody without incident.

Torres-Ortiz and Gonzalez will be charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault with a dangerous weapon or substance.
  • Conspiracy.

Cranston Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
