Cranston police award RISPCA with $1,000 donation

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said they were happy to award the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with a $1,000 check Thursday afternoon.

Police said they were able to raise funds through the sale of their customized RISPCA-themed police patches.

Officials said the patches were inspired by an incident where a Cranston resident shot and killed his dog.

Cranston police said with the help of the RISPCA, they were able to arrest and convict the resident for their crimes.

RISPCA themed Cranston police patches are still available for sale and can be purchased here.
