CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police on Thursday identified the two people killed in a dirt bike crash.

The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Broad Street and Wheeler Avenue.

Police said Jovanni Delgiudice, 21, was riding a black dirt bike with Yasmary Valdera, 20, on the back travelling south on Broad Street.

Maj. Todd Patalano said witnesses driving north said the dirt bike passed  them at a high rate of speed, driving at oncoming traffic.

Delgiudice neared the intersection of Wheeler Avenue, while a 2014 red Nissan Pathfinder was turning left onto the same street.

The 21-year-old then skidded about 50 feet and crashed into the front passenger side of the Nissan, said police.

Delgiudice and Valdera, both of Providence, were thrown from the dirt bike. They were taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where they died from their injuries.

Both victims were not wearing helmets and the motorcycle wasn’t equipped with headlights or emergency equipment, Patalano said.

Police said neither had a motorcycle license.

The driver of the Nissan was unharmed and faces no charges at this time.
