Cranston police seek suspect related to a shooting Tuesday night
CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE)– Cranston police are asking residents to come forward who may have information on a shooting that occurred at he intersection of Broad Street and Narragansett Street in the city Tuesday night.
Witnesses said the suspect “produced a handgun and fired several shots into a black or grey colored sedan (possibly a Chevrolet), which was traveling north on Broad Street,” just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement from Chief Michael Winquist.
The subject is described as a black male, approximately 20-years-old, with dreadlocks, and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. The subject was wearing blue jeans and white sneakers; he fled soon after in a black Nissan Altima or Maxima, heading east on Narragansett Street, according to witnesses.
Police believe the shooting was targeted, as witnesses described the suspect running toward the vehicle fired on, according to the statement.
Winquist said officers responding to the scene “located broken glass and several shell casings on Broad Street between the cross streets of Narragansett Street and Bay View Avenue.”
