Cranston police arrest naked man for harassing security guard, breaking into home

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE)-

The Cranston police have announced that they have arrested the suspect who exposed himself while harassing a security guard then breaking and entering into a home in Cranston.

Paul Sawyer, 35, of Woonsocket, was charged with one count Breaking and Entering, and two charges of Indecent Exposure/Disorderly Conduct.

Police said that the man first approached a security guard in a parking lot on Plainfield Pike at about 1:38 a.m. Sawyer parked in the parking lot for twenty minutes before approaching the guard. Sawyer chased the guard before she fled in her vehicle. Officers were unable to locate Sawyer after he fled the city.

At about 3:15 a.m. the man broke into a home on Gray Coach Lane.

A man living in the home told police that he was woken up by someone saying hello inside of his home. He saw the man, fully naked, getting into a red mini van.

Sawyer will be arraigned tomorrow morning in Kent County District Court.
