Cranston, Warwick Looking for Budget Fixes
Over in Cranston, the city council plans to adopt a budget tonight that relies on close to $1.5M from the city's rainy day fund, to among other things, restore funding to elderly services and replace police cars.
Now, Mayor Fung doesn't want to use surplus money and plans to go line by line through the budget vetoing certain items.
There are similar problems to sort through Monday in Warwick.
The city council will meet later tonight to discuss whether to increase car taxes and cut school aid.
The city is currently facing a $14M deficit.
