Cranston Woman Accused of Stealing From Pharmacy

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) – A former employee at a Cranston pharmacy has been charged with embezzling nearly $300,000 from the business by playing keno on the job.

Authorities say 55-year-old Linda Munroe played keno tickets while working her assigned shift using the pharmacy's lottery account over an 18-month period in 2006 and 2007. During that time
she collected about $21,000 in winnings.

The owners of Cameron's Pharmacy conducted an audit of the business's lottery account after allegedly discovering cash shortages in Munroe's cash drawer. Police say she denied any
knowledge of the shortage.

Munroe was released on $5,000 bail and is due back in court on Oct. 25. It was not immediately clear of she had a lawyer.
