A tanker truck leaking liquid asphalt on Interstate 95 tied up traffic through Providence during the morning commute.

It happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday going northbound past downtown Providence.

The spill closed all the northbound lanes of traffic while crews moved the truck onto the shoulder near the exit for state offices and Route 146.

State police said the lanes were later reopened and that the spill is not considered hazardous.

Officials say the Rhode Island Department of Transportation is cleaning it up.
