Crews knock down fire at New Bedford home.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – A New Bedford home was heavily damaged in a fire Wednesday morning.

New Bedford Fire Department received a call around 9:15 a.m. from a reporting a fire inside her Templeton Street home.

Fire crews responded to the address and began to combat the fire. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire and secure the scene.

The female resident who made the call got out safely, but Fire officials told ABC6 one dog was killed in the fire.

Fire officials say the home was heavily damaged. No cause or origin has been determined at this time.
