FALL RIVER, MASS (WLNE) – Fire and utility crews were on the scene when a gas leak was sprung after being struck by a backhoe.

According to the Fall River Fire Department, the backhoe struck a 2-inch gas line on Commerce Drive at about 8:15 a.m, running at about 60 PSI, making it a “significant leak”.

The line lead to Millstone Medical Facility where about 100 faculty members were evacuated and stayed outside for about 2 hours until the last engine left the scene.

The fire department did not report any known injuries.
