PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Red Cross is helping assist a Pawtucket family who were unable to get back into their home after a fire ripped through it overnight.

Firefighters responded to the home on Seba Kent Road shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.

When they arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire.

Officials say the fire began on the main floor and climbed up to the attic of the home before crews were able to put it out.

One person was at the home at the time, but Battalion Chief Joseph Murray says it appears three people lived there.

“The fire had gotten from one room and got into the attic. We had a hard time because the ceiling has a mesh plaster. It was hard to break them down,” said Battalion Chief Murray.

No one was injured by the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
