Crews respond to Douglas Avenue house fire

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Firefighters fought a heavy blaze in a single family home on Douglas Avenue in North Providence.

ABC6 News Crews arrived to the scene to see multiple crews battle the fire as thick black smoke produced from the windows and holes cut through the roof.

Providence Fire joined North Providence Fire in tackling the blaze, arriving as the fire began to extend to the side of the house.

North Providence Fire Chief John Silva shared details with ABC6 after they knocked down the fire.

The report of the fire came in at 9:40 p.m. after one of the people home smelt smoke.

The fire started on the second floor and crews were able to contain it to that area.

Three people were home at the time and all were able to evacuate without injury.

There was ammunition on the first and second floor of the house, the fire did not set off those rounds.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
