Crook Point Bridge in Providence catches fire overnight

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Firefighters were on scene at the Crook Point bridge, tackling a fire on Tuesday night.

The bridge is stuck in the upright position spanning the Seekonk River.

Providence firefighters say they arrived on the scene around 9:30 p.m.

Marine units from Providence and Warwick were also called in to assist.

Witnesses say kids were seen lighting fireworks in the area.

The fire remains under investigation at this time.

The bridge has been closed since 1976.
