PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cumberland man indicted on federal child pornography charges turned himself in Thursday.

Robert Aprea, 58, was arraigned Thursday after he was indicted last week on four counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors accuse Aprea of uploading multiple images to a chatroom on three separate occasions earlier this year.

A joint investigation led to a search warrant of Aprea’s home that resulted in the recovery of thousands of images, according to investigators.

Aprea was released on unsecured bail and a trial date has not yet been set.
