LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — Hair It Is in Lincoln hosted a Cut-A-Thon Sunday to raise money for the Benderson Family Heart Center at Boston Children’s Hospital.

100% of proceeds from the event went to the hospital, owner Heather Broccoli said.

In addition to haircuts the salon also sold heating oil and raffled off $1600 worth of prizes.

“The fact that we’re even able to do this event is gratifying on so many levels,” she said. “Our ultimate goal is just to give back to the community in some way.”

The staff were wearing shirts that read “Be Kind,” a message Broccoli said they all wanted to spread with the event.
