Cuts Coming to N. Smithfield Sports Programs

Officials in North Smithfield forced to make a tough decision and eliminate some school sports.

The North Smithfield school committee voted last night to cut all middle school sports and get rid of some high school sports.

Among them football, hockey and cheerleading.

Committee members say the cuts will save the school district more than $160,000 next year, all to help make up for more than $1M in cuts to the school budget.
