BREAKING: Police make arrest in connection with Dartmouth homicide

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) – Authorities have made an arrest in the death of a 37-year-old Fall River man killed Saturday night in Dartmouth.
48-year-old Robert Rose, of New Bedford, was charged with murder and misleading police.
Dartmouth Police received a 911 call around 10:34 p.m. Saturday from a night manager at the Regency Hotel on Faunce Corner Road.
The night manager told police that a man was bleeding heavily inside a car parked in the rear lot of the hotel.
According to a spokesman for the office of District Attorney Thomas Quinn, first responders on scene located the victim, identified as Joseph Tavares, 37, of Fall River, unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Tavares was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford where he was pronounced dead.
The hotel manager told police he was alerted to the state of the victim after a guest reported hearing loud thuds and the sound of breaking glass coming from the parking lot.
The homicide is being investigated by Dartmouth Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, as well as Homicide Unit prosecutors.
No further information is available at this time.
