DCYF discloses death of 1-month-old from Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families disclosed on Friday the death of a 1-month-old from Providence.

Damaris Teixeira, a spokesperson for the department, said the baby died on May 2.

Teixeira said DCYF was involved with the family at the time of the incident. The child’s cause of death wasn’t immediately known.

The Office of the Child Advocate has been notified.

Teixeira said because of “confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information.”
