DCYF discloses death of 2-year-old

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families disclosed on the death of a 2-year-old.

Damaris Teixeira, a spokesperson for the department, said the baby died on July 28 and were the subject of a department case at the time.

Teixeira added that maltreatment did not contribute to the death.

The Office of the Child Advocate has been notified.

Teixeira said because of “confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information.”
