DCYF discloses near fatality of 19-year-old

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families disclosed the near fatality of a 19-year-old Friday.

The incident occurred on May 10 and the department was active with the youth’s family at the time, spokesperson Damaris Teixeira said.

The department notified the Office of the Child Advocate of the incident.

“Due to confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information,” Teixeira said.
