A DCYF worker has been charged with reckless driving.

RI State Police say 55-year-old Richard Davis tailgated a car, abruptly changed lanes, and cut off another driver…then slammed on his brakes, causing the other car to hit him and two other cars.

The incident happened on 95 South Tuesday morning.

Davis has worked for DCYF for 27 years, and was driving the company’s van at the time.

Kevin J. Aucoin, Acting Director of DCYF, released the following statement :

“We were made aware of the arrest for reckless driving of DCYF employee Richard Davis yesterday. Immediately upon notification, we initiated our internal process which calls for placing the employee on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, which is underway.”

DCYF says Davis has been placed on administrative leave.
