DCYF investigates stabbing of 8-year-old boy in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Department of Children, Youth and Families said Thursday that it is investigating an incident where an 8-year-old was stabbed multiple times in Providence.

Police said an 8-year-old boy and two adults were stabbed at their Reynolds Avenue home Tuesday night.

Officials said the boy underwent surgery and is stable.

Police arrested 22-year-old Victor Espinal, the boy’s uncle, in connection to the incident.

They said the incident was of domestic nature, as everyone involved is related.

Espinal faces three felony assault charges.

He is expected back in court on May 10.
