DCYF: Neglect contributes to death of Cranston infant

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Department of Children, Youth and Families said Friday that a Cranston infant died earlier this year.

DCYF said the incident happened Jan. 19 and that neglect contributed to the 1.5-year-old’s death.

Damaris Teixeira, a spokesperson for the department, said DCYF had no previous involvement with the family.

The Office of the Child Advocate has been notified.

Teixeira said because of “confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information.”
