DCYF to host ‘Night at the Zoo’ event to celebrate foster families

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families will host a “Night of the Zoo” foster parent appreciation event on May 25 at Roger Williams Park Zoo.

The event is being run in partnership with The Village for Rhode Island Foster and Adoptive Families and the Rhode Island Foster Family Advisory Council and will include over 60o foster families who will have the zoo to themselves.

“This event gives DCYF the opportunity to show our appreciation in honor of our foster parents,” DCYF Director Ashley Deckert said. ““The support, compassion, and dedication of these foster parents is what makes our system of care possible, and events like these allow us to say thank you.”
