DCYF, Westerly Police Department investigating death of two month old

WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE)- DCYF and the Westerly Police Department are both investigating the death of a two month old baby.

Police tell ABC6 that the incident was first reported by the medical examiner’s office at 1:50 p.m.

It was determined that the baby was taken to the hospital by his parents at about 11 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 12:23 p.m.

The cause of death is currently unknown. An autopsy was performed on Monday morning, but the investigation is still ongoing.

The boy’s father was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant and violation of a no contact order, protecting the mother.
