Death investigation underway in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A death investigation is underway in Smithfield on Thursday.

The department said someone died at a house on Mountaindale Road.

Officers were called to the home just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The person’s cause of death was not released.

Police said there is no threat to the public.
