DEM adds additional lifeguard test for Thursday

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is adding another date for residents to complete the certification test to become a lifeguard at state parks and beaches.

According to ta statement from the department, the added date was needed as several candidates were unable to make the last test due to their school schedules.

The test will be held at Misquamicut State Beach in Westerly on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All candidates must register in advance on the DEM’s website.

Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Masks must be worn by applicants and instructors, and the entire certification process will be held in accordance with social distancing protocols, the department said.
