DEM confirms death at Misquamicut
WETERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management confirmed that man had drowned at Misquamicut State Beach Friday.
The DEM said that lifeguards pulled an unresponsive 74-year-old man from Farmington, Connecticut from the water around 12:30 p.m.
Lifeguards tried to resuscitate the man by administering CPR and using an automated external defibrillator until Westerly EMS and DEM’s Division of Law Enforcement arrived at the scene, the department added.
The man was then transported to Westerly Hospital were he was pronounced dead.
The DEM said it had no further details to release at this time.
