PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said Thursday that its 24-hour telephone Bay Line is now open.

The new program makes it easy for the public to report any environmental concerns in Narragansett Bay.

Jay Wegimont, a programing service officer, said the line can be used to warn the Department of Environmental Management about issues that surface, like such as algae blooms.

Wegimont said Bay Line allows Rhode Islanders to leave a recorded message about any sign of bay-related problems throughout the summer season.

Any reports of water quality conditions are regularly updated and available on the Department of Environmental Management’s website.

The Bay Line number is 401-222-8888 and is toll-free within the state.
