Department of Environmental Management info line opens May 15
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s seasonal 24-hour tip line will open on May 15.
The Bay Line, at 222-8888, provides Rhode Islanders with a central point of contact to leave a recorded message about any sign of bay-related environmental problems or occurrences throughout the summer season for appropriate follow-up, the DEM said.
The line is toll-free within the state and will remain open until Oct. 15.
The department said that the line should be used by the public to communicate with the agencies in charge of protecting the bay.
The line is part of a series of initiatives to protect Narragansett bay, alongside the Bay Assessment and Response Team.
The public can also contact the department via email at DEM.bartline@dem.ri.gov.
