PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said Wednesday that a food company is recalling a product for possible salmonella contamination.

The Rushdi Food Industries recalled their Mighty Sesame 10.9 Oz Organic Tahini (squeezable) with the specific expiration date 3/28/23.

The recalled product was sold in Walmart’s in Rhode Island including retailers in other states.

“This recall was initiated when the company received a notification by the FDA and the West Virginia Department of Health of the potential presence of Salmonella in this specific lot,” said the Department of Health.

There has been no reports of illness or injury as of yet.

Consumers who’ve purchased the item are advised to throw it away or return for a refund. If anyone is believed to be exposed to salmonella, they’re urged to contact a healthcare provider.
