Department of Health recommends closing 1 beach, reopening another

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended the closing of one beach and the reopening of another on Wednesday.

The DOH said that Ginny B’s Campground in Foster should be closed to swimming after tests showed bacteria at unsafe levels.

The department also said that Barrington Town Beach in Barrington should be reopened as bacteria tests are back to safe levels.

Barrington was one of 13 beaches that the department closed Tuesday.

Officials said they will continue to monitor the bacteria levels and water quality through Labor Day.
