Department of Human Services, Department of Business Regulation could soon have permanent directors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Department of Human Services and Department of Business Regulation could soon have permanent directors.
Gov. Dan McKee on Tuesday nominated Kimberly Merolla-Brito and Elizabeth Dwyer’s name to the Senate.
“From the moment she ascended to the role of Director of DHS, Kimberly Merolla-Brito has been an asset for each and every Rhode Islander,” said McKee.
Merolla-Brito, McKee said, has been acting director of the Department of Human Services and has more than 23 years of state service.
“As permanent director, she will continue to lead the dedicated team across DHS and the numerous initiatives throughout the department that continue to aid Rhode Islanders,” he said.
Dwyer is the interim director at the Department of Business Regulation and has been there for more than 20 years, said McKee.
“Beth Dwyer has the experience and leadership to be a voice and advocate for Rhode Island’s business and consumer community,” said the governor.
