Department of Transportation to extend weekend lane closures in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is extending weekend lane closures at the Route 6/10 Interchange in Providence for paving.

The weekend closures will begin at 7 p.m. and last through 5 a.m. on May 5, 12, and 19.

The Department of Transportation said the paving will make uneven sections of Route 10 “smooth and uniform” in that area.

After the 19th, said DOT, additional daytime paving is scheduled.

The department said drivers should plan ahead or consider alternate routes, like Interstate 95.
