Diocese of Providence announces the passing of Retired Bishop in residence

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – The Diocese of Providence announced that Retired Bishop in Residence, and Decorated Military Chaplain, Bishop Francis X. Roque passed away. 

He died on Thursday, September 12th, at the Jeanne Jugan Residence Home in Pawtucket, R.I. 

Bishop Tobin stated; “Bishop Roque was a good and gracious man who served God, his church and his nation with great distinction. May he now rest in the perfect peace and joy of God’s Kingdom.” 

The Diocese of Providence said a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Bishop Roque on Thursday, September 19 at 11 a.m at the Cathedral of SS. of Peter & Paul, Fenner Street, Providence. 

Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. 

Bishop Roque was 90 years old.
