Diocese to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence will hold a vigil Wednesday morning to pray for victims of domestic violence. The statewide event marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Auxiliary Bishop Robert Evans will lead diocesan the prayer on the steps of the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul at 9:45 a.m. in remembrance of the 10 individuals who lost their lives as a result of domestic violence in Rhode Island last year.    

The vigil will conclude with the ringing of the Cathedral’s bells 10 times in memory of the ten lives lost in Rhode Island in 2013.
