EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Greenwich Fire Department said no people were injured but one dog is dead after a house fire on Tuesday.

ABC6 News crews were on-scene where firefighters were clearing out the scene where smoke damage was observed inside the home through the front door.

Chief Bernard Peteanaude said the fire started on the first flood of the Cedar Avenue home around 4:00 p.m.

When responders entered the home, there were no people inside but the dog reportedly succumbed to its injuries.

The fire itself was contained but the chief said the house sustained heavy smoke damage.
