Driver avoids collision with deer, almost drives into river

DIGHTON, Mass. (WLNE)- The Dighton Police shared on their Facebook page an incident where a driver managed to avoid two dangerous situations at once.

A driver was passing through Pleasant Street in Dighton when a deer crossed in front of their car. The driver was able to avoid hitting the deer, but in doing so left the roadway and ended up just a foot away from the river’s edge, stuck on a rock.

The Dighton Police had to call in a rotator, a special piece of equipment able to lift the vehicle from its precarious position, the driver was not injured.

Dighton Police remind the public that during these colder months deer are still out and drivers should always pay attention for the possibility they find themselves on the road.
