Driver in 2019 accident sentenced to prison
NEW BEDFORD, M.A. (WLNE) – Wednesday was judgement day for an Easton, Massachusetts woman, charged in a deadly crash in New Bedford last year.
James Bennett-Werra, who identifies as female, will serve 14 to 16 years behind bars.
She plead guilty to several charges, including manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
She ran a stop sign on Tallman Street, in March of 2019 barreling into another car.
This resulted in the death of a 68-year-old woman and injuring her passenger.
Bennett-Werra was arrested a few days later after police found her hiding.
